If you’re interested in a career in radio, TV or journalism (or even digital), the BBC Internships and Trainee Schemes are invaluable.
The BBC is changing. We have more people than ever before telling stories and reaching audiences through our news services around the world – but this doesn’t mean that we can’t learn from one another or work together to create better content for our audiences.
At the heart of everything we do at the BBC is an ethos of creative collaboration across all aspects of production; it’s an approach which has led us to some great success, but we believe there’s always room for improvement – so if you want to be part of a team who makes it happen every day: join us!
This year we’ve received a large number of applications for our internships, there is currently a queue which means we are unable to accept any more applications. Please check back soon for updates on 2021 schemes.

We have specific and additional support programmes within our intern schemes, these include: BAME Internship Scheme, Social Mobility Internship Scheme and the Disability Confident Internship Scheme.
The BAME internships are open to applicants who are Black or Minority Ethnic (BME) and have a disadvantaged background. These schemes provide a unique opportunity to gain experience in a BBC environment while also helping diversify our workforce.
The Social Mobility Internship Scheme offers around 50 places per year for people with social mobility barriers who want to work in broadcasting or production across TV or radio. The scheme is designed for people who may not otherwise be able to access training opportunities at the BBC due to their personal circumstances.
Lastly, there’s the Disability Confident scheme which aims to increase disability representation across the BBC’s workforce by providing two paid internships per year for disabled job seekers at any stage of their career who wish to gain media experience working with us as part of their development journey.
You don’t need to be working with us to apply – so long as you meet the criteria set out in the scheme or placement description, you can apply when you graduate.
