This is accomplished through a formal mentoring program that pairs interns with experienced legal professionals. We know how important it is for our interns to get the most out of their internship, so we encourage our mentors to provide regular feedback regarding the work of their intern.

What would a solution look like? How about:
- Goals are key. You can’t just look at “doing good” as a goal, but instead, you should break things down into smaller goals.
- Don’t be afraid to set very specific goals. Don’t try to do it all at once, or you’ll never finish it and feel defeated by your failure. Instead, start off with a small tangible goal that’s doable for the next 3 months (like running a 5k in April). Set yourself up for success and be proud of your accomplishment when you reach this goal within those 3 months. The steps in between are more along the lines of trying out new activities and working towards bigger goals (like running an 8k in June).
- The benefits of having realistic goals include increasing motivation because they aren’t so far away from reach currently; they aren’t so lofty that you’re always second guessing yourself; and they are clear enough that you can see how small steps lead to larger ones (you go from running a 5k to running an 8k).
