Keep in mind that these are just some of the firms offering internships in London. You can also find internship opportunities at smaller firms, hedge funds and private equity firms.
Though it would be great to land an internship at one of these firms, keep in mind that they are not the only firms offering internships for investment banking. Smaller firms, hedge funds and private equity firms offer other opportunities as well. When choosing between a smaller firm and one of the larger banks, remember that smaller shops offer more opportunities to get hands on experience with deals and clients. Even though the work load at hedge funds and private equity firms is more intense, those who have interned there have reported that it was easier to get a full-time position there than at bulge bracket banks. Compensation is also higher at hedge funds and private equity firms. It’s important to research all of your options before making your decision.
