Interns will be expected to work full time (Monday to Friday) for a minimum of three months or part time (Monday to Friday) for six months.

Internships with Amnesty International are available for both full time (35 hours or more per week) and part time (20-25 hours per week). Internships can be internship or volunteer work.

Amnesty International USA has two internship programs located in its New York office, the Program and Campaign Internship and the Student Volunteer Program.

• The Program and Campaign Internship is a full-time paid opportunity for those interested in pursuing a career in international human rights. It includes research, writing, communications, advocacy campaigns and outreach to different groups through the organization’s network of members across the country.
• The Student Volunteer Program provides support for college students who want to find out more about AIUSA’s work on behalf of persecuted individuals around the world while gaining hands-on experience with various programs related to human rights education and advocacy (ideally by way of an academic institution).

These internships are unpaid. If you are accepted into one of our programs, you will need to make your own arrangements for housing and other living expenses.

For applicants who meet the qualifications described below:

• You must be in good academic standing at your current university or college (demonstrated through a transcript that shows successful completion of courses).
• You must be able to commit to a minimum of three months full time or six months part time.

• Interns do not receive a stipend.
• Interns are responsible for arranging their own living arrangements in London, where the internship takes place. The office will be able to provide some information about local accommodation options, but this is not guaranteed and cannot be relied upon as an official resource.
• Interns are responsible for arranging their own travel arrangements to get to London on the first day of the internship (usually Monday), and then back home again at the end of their placement (usually Friday). Amnesty International does not provide travel expense reimbursement for internships, so interns should plan accordingly when making these arrangements.

Once you have completed all of this preliminary work, you will be notified if you have been selected for an interview (if so) or placed on a waiting list (if not).
