I have just completed my first semester at UC Berkeley and during that time I had the wonderful opportunity to intern with a sports agency.

I have just completed my first semester at UC Berkeley and during that time I had the wonderful opportunity to intern with a sports agency. It was a great experience, not only did I get to work with some talented people but I also learned so much about what it takes to work in this industry.

What was your role there?

My main task was writing an article for the website about an athlete who was coming out of retirement. This meant doing research on him as well as finding interesting stories about his career and what brought him back into the spotlight. In addition to this I also got to do some social media posting for the agency and write press releases about upcoming events and signings by players from different teams within different leagues around North America. What did the internship entail? My days were spent meeting up with other interns who had similar interests but were still able to learn something new every day from them all (I even taught one of them how use Instagram!). We worked together on projects that related directly back into our field which made us feel more like part of team rather than just another student doing schoolwork after class hours.What did you learn from it?

The players of course are the reason why agencies exist, but a good agency will also represent broadcasters, coaches, trainers and other people involved in the sports industry.

When you work for an agency, the players are obviously your primary clients. However, a good agency will also represent broadcasters, coaches, trainers and other people involved in the sports industry.

For example:

• Bob represents a player named Peter. Peter trains with Nelson who is also represented by Bob.
• Chuck represents a coach named George who works at the same club as Jane whom Chuck also represents.

There are several things you can do to get your foot in the door at a sports agency.

There are several things you can do to get your foot in the door at a sports agency. You can network with people who work at agencies, complete an internship with a sports agency, work with a sports agency on a project, or use social media to connect with agencies.

The most important thing is to stay positive and proactive!

Even if you don’t have connections to a sports agency, you may be able to work for them indirectly by working for a company which provides legal services to them.

As an attorney, you can use your skills as an assistant or paralegal in exchange for experience with the sports industry. This is a great way to get your foot in the door and demonstrate your commitment and knowledge of how sports agencies operate.

A job as an agent is fast-paced, exciting and very competitive.

When you are considering a career as an agent, it is important to have experience in sales, marketing or management. You will be working with athletes who have high incomes and large amounts of disposable income. This means that not only do you need to know how to negotiate contracts for your clients, but also how to work with them on their off-the-field activities and brand building.

As an agent, you must be able to think on your feet and solve problems quickly. Your client may be facing a legal issue at any moment–and the first thing they’ll want from their agent is help solving that problem. In addition to being able to handle those kinds of situations, having an understanding of legal and financial issues is vital for this job because many agents specialize in one area (like sports law) or another (like business consulting).

It’s not too late too try for one of these great internships!

Internships are a great way to get experience in a field before applying for jobs. They can be paid or unpaid, and they can lead to permanent employment. It’s never too late to apply for an internship!
