Internship description

As an intern, you will be working with a team of writers, copywriters and content strategists to create and deliver engaging content for our clients.

You will work directly with the Head of Content to make sure that every piece of content we produce is on-brand, well written, accurate, thorough and timely. You’ll also help research topics for blog posts, interview experts for podcast episodes and other projects.

To succeed as an intern at [Company] you should be comfortable writing in a variety of styles (including first person), have strong research skills, attention to detail and good communication skills.

Skills required

The ideal candidate will:

• have excellent writing skills and the ability to work under pressure;
• have good interpersonal skills;
• be knowledgeable about the latest trends in digital marketing; and,
• be proficient in MS Office, WordPress, basic HTML/web design and content management systems.

In addition to these requirements, we recommend that candidates have some experience working with design software (Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator) or content management systems (WordPress).

Personal qualities

To succeed, you need to be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. You should also have a good grasp of the English language—for example, you should be able to recognize spelling mistakes or grammatical errors when reading through your own work.

Creativity is key because many of your assignments will require the ability to think outside of the box. Organizational skills are essential as well: working alone on projects can be challenging if you don’t know how to manage your time effectively. Finally, it goes without saying that being a team player is important!

Internship location

London is a very popular city for internships in the media and publishing industries, and for good reason: it’s home to some of the most influential publications in the world. Internships in London can be sought out at The Guardian, The Economist and BuzzFeed UK among others.

If you’re not able to make it across the pond to London for an internship, there are also plenty of opportunities available within England itself. For example, internships are offered by many regional newspapers throughout England; these include The Yorkshire Post (Leeds), Hull Daily Mail (Hull) and Lincolnshire Echo (Lincoln).

Salary

Salaries are the money you earn from your internship. Your salary may be hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or yearly.

A typical salary range will be between $40,000 and $50,000 per year (gross). This means that you will get a paycheck for 12 months and it will be made up of 12 * $40k = $480k. The salary you’ll actually receive depends on how many hours per week you work and whether your employer has tax deductions due to government regulations (gross vs net).

• Salary: We pay UK minimum wage (for those who are over 18 years old) plus applicable holiday pay and performance bonuses based on meritocracy rather than seniority alone (which means less experienced interns can earn just as much money as senior members).

If you’re a budding writer looking for an internship in London, then this is great news. Interning as a writer is the best way to get paid as a writer. The only other way to make money as a writer is if someone reads your work and decides that they like it enough that they want to pay you for it (but don’t count on this happening!). The more writing experience you have, the better your chances of getting hired by an editor or magazine or website when they need someone with experience.

London internships are usually unpaid but will give you valuable experience working with editors and writers who are already established in their fields.
