How do I apply for the scholarship?

To apply, visit the scholarship provider’s website.
Read over the application instructions carefully and make sure you have all of the necessary materials (if any are required).
Follow each step in order to submit your application by its deadline date.

Who is eligible for the scholarship?

In order to be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

Be at least 18 years old.
Be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.
Currently be enrolled in a vocational training program and/or enrolled in an accredited community college. If you are interested in attending an accredited four-year college or university, you may still be eligible as long as your GPA is 2.0 or higher or if you can demonstrate financial need by providing proof of your family’s income tax returns from two years prior to submitting your application (all of which should be included with other required documents). You should also plan to submit a 500 word essay explaining why this scholarship would help further your education goals.

What are the requirements for the scholarship?

If you’re interested in applying for the Mike Rowe Scholarship, here’s what you’ll need to know:

You must be enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited trade school, college, or university. If you meet this requirement and are accepted as a student, then you can apply.
You must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident who has lived in the U.S. for at least three years prior to submitting your application (this includes military service). If your situation doesn’t fit that description exactly but is close enough that we would consider it acceptable (for example, if your family moved around while serving in the armed forces), please explain your situation when filling out the application form so that we can get a better sense of how long your family has been living here and whether moving around had any impact on their ability to establish roots here before becoming citizens themselves.)
Your GPA should be 2.5 or higher on a 4-point scale (or 3 point scale). If it isn’t yet at this level but will likely reach it within one year after starting school again after having taken some time off from studying math/science related topics during high school then we may still consider using those grades instead since they indicate dedication towards maintaining good grades despite setbacks like graduating early due to advanced placement courses being offered during senior year only; however this is not guaranteed because there might also be other factors influencing why someone didn’t finish high school

How many scholarships will be awarded?

The number of scholarships awarded depends on the amount of donations received. In recent years, between 50 and 100 scholarships have been awarded each year.

Scholarship recipients are announced in the fall.

What does the work ethic scholarship cover?

The Mike Rowe Scholarship covers tuition, books, supplies, and equipment required for the course of study. It does not cover living expenses or travel expenses. Equipment and tools for personal use are not covered by this scholarship.

When are applications due for the scholarship?

The application for the current year’s scholarship is due on April 30. The application for the scholarship for the following year is due on September 30. Check back at our website as we will update these dates when they change, or you can contact us if you have any questions about when to apply.

Will my application be reviewed if I miss the deadline?

No. The deadline is firm, and we will not accept applications after it has passed.

Where do I send my essay after I’ve completed it?

All essays should be sent to the Mike Rowe Works website. It’s easy to find, and it will take you through a very simple process for submitting your essay. Just follow the prompts and answer each question as best you can.
