Position Description: Marketing and Communications Internship

This internship will give you the opportunity to work directly with the Seattle Opera’s Marketing Department to plan and implement the company’s annual marketing strategy. You’ll also learn how to write press releases, interact with the media and support the company’s productions through social media, educational programs, and events. Finally, you’ll conduct a teen focus group to gather feedback about the opera’s upcoming shows.

As a Marketing and Communications Intern, you’ll work closely with the marketing team to coordinate print, email, and social media correspondence for subscribers, donors, and affiliate members. You’ll help maintain production and email schedules, collaborate with marketing, and participate in team meetings to analyze and make recommendations. You’ll also coordinate social media content, including photo and video editing and asset coordination. You’ll work on a range of projects, from assisting with photo shoots to managing the Seattle Opera’s social media accounts.

The internship provides hands-on experience in marketing, writing, and public relations, as well as a thorough understanding of the nonprofit literary arts. You’ll work closely with the SAL’s Communications Manager and Associate Director to help launch the company’s marketing and communications strategies and implement year-long marketing and communications programs.
