reporting internships
What does id do?
You are not alone. We all share a common goal: to make the world a better place. Every day, we help protect our freedoms and ensure that everyone can live their lives in peace. Government agencies rely on us to provide them with the technology they use every day to help keep their citizens safe. As one of our interns, you will have the chance to work with some of the most cutting-edge technology available today! You’ll be learning from some of the best engineers in the industry and getting exposure to something truly unique as an intern at id Software.
It’s a great time for new employees at id Software as well—we’ve been growing rapidly in recent years, expanding from just over 100 employees in 2015 (the year Doom was released) up through 150 employees by December 2016 (the year Quake Champions was announced). Now that there are more than 200 people working here together on projects like Quake Champions and other unannounced games (all while shipping titles like Doom), it’s become clear we need even more talented people around so everyone can continue doing what they love: making awesome games!
Who does id look for?
If you’re interested in applying for an id internship, we look for people who are willing to learn, work hard, and collaborate with others. We also admire people who are curious about the world around them and aren’t afraid to ask questions.
We love working with interns who care deeply about the mission of id: making our planet a better place by supporting innovations that will improve lives everywhere. We want our interns to take on new challenges as they come up during their time here–it’s important that they’re motivated by learning rather than just getting paid!
How can I learn more about ID’s mission?
- Visit the ID website
- Read the ID blog
- Follow ID on social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram)
- Listen to the ID podcast
- Attend an ID event (IDXplore: May 9-12) or find out what else is happening in your country.
It’s important to stay up-to-date on what ID is doing and how it goes about its work each day. There are many ways to do this: reading our annual report; reading our strategic plan; attending an event such as a conference or training session; following us on social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram; reading our blog posts from around the world featuring updates from current interns or alumni—and more!
How does working at id as an intern help me achieve my career goals?
In addition to helping you build your resume and gain experience in the field, internships help you develop skills that are transferable across different industries and paths. You might learn how to work with other people, or how to manage a project. You could also become more familiar with a particular industry or area of study, getting an insider’s view of what it’s like from someone who has worked there for years.
Internships also offer opportunities for personal growth and development, whether that means learning new skills or simply gaining confidence in yourself as a professional.
Ultimately, internships give students hands-on experience in their career fields while they are still finishing up their education—and that can prove very valuable down the road when they start looking for full-time positions after graduation (or even earlier).
