When she landed an internship at Bobotiaroh Enterprise, she knew that she wanted to work in Ghana, an area famous for its shea tree fruit. Davis was in Ghana on three different occasions, and while there she was able to learn more about the shea tree and how to extract shea butter from the nut. She decided to go on to start her own business, Superior Shea, which sells shea butter products imported from Bobotiaroh Enterprise, an organic farming enterprise in Ghana’s Upper West Region. She wants to develop a more sustainable system for producing and marketing shea butter.

Bobotiaroh Community Commerce Fellowship

The Shea Moisture Community Commerce Fellowship is open to minority women business owners and executives who have a passion for the beauty industry. The fellowship supports full-time attendance at Tuck’s “Building a High-Performing Minority Business” program, which helps participants analyze their business’ strengths and weaknesses and develop strategies to improve it. The program also helps women grow their networks and learn from their peers.

The CommunityCommerce Fellowship program is a year-long program that takes place in Hanover, NH. The fellowship covers tuition, materials, most meals, and up to $1,000 in travel expenses. Since its inception, the program has graduated dozens of young leaders who have founded successful companies in their chosen fields, generating millions of dollars in revenue for their communities and local economies.
