This summer, you will be working as an electrical engineering intern at 2020-8634, Inc. Your responsibilities will include:
- Working with other engineers to develop new technology for use in the company’s products
- Creating designs and specifications for projects assigned by managers
- Using your knowledge of circuits, electronics, computer hardware and software to troubleshoot issues that may arise
I was an Electrical Engineering Intern at Bell Labs from June 2019 to August 2019. I had a great experience at Bell Labs and it was truly an honor to work with such amazing people. I learned so much about the field of electrical engineering that I am now taking a deeper dive into it with my master’s program!
Electrical Engineering is one of the broad fields in engineering that focuses on the study and application of electricity, electronics, electromagnetism, telecommunications, control systems and nanotechnology. Electrical engineers design and develop equipment related to these technologies using mathematics-based methods & theories involving electrical circuit analysis on how electricity flows through wires or in closed loops (conductors).

Electrical engineering is the branch of engineering that deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism. This field first became an identifiable occupation in the later half of the 19th century after commercialization of the electric telegraph, the telephone system and power generation systems. Subsequently, broadcasting and recording media made electronics part of daily life. The invention of semiconductors in 1947 created a revolution in technology similar to that achieved by James Watt’s improvement on steam engine design a century earlier.
Electricity has been used widely throughout history for electroplating; for example it is used to remove corrosion from steel cans after they have been printed at a factory. It does this by creating an electrochemical reaction between the exposed metal surfaces and some form of electrolyte (typically salt water).
