Three Recent Graduates of the Miami Valley Hospital Dietetic Internship
Three recent graduates of the Miami Valley Hospital Dietetic Internship share their experiences. Meg is a recent graduate who is interested in sports nutrition, vegetarian/vegan diets, and celiac disease. Abby Bolender, a graduate of the Miami Valley Hospital Dietetic Internship, also discusses her experiences. In addition to her passion for health and wellness, these three professionals have similar interests.
Meg is a graduate of the Miami Valley Hospital Dietetic Internship
Megan is a native of Ohio, having graduated from North Dakota State University. After completing her undergraduate degree in biology, she pursued a dietetic internship at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. Prior to her dietetic internship, Meg worked in a variety of settings, including long-term care, college food service, and consulting. She has particular interests in vegetarian diets, diabetes, and celiac disease. Outside of her career, Meg enjoys hiking, cooking, and spending time with her family.
The Miami Valley Hospital Dietetic Internship at Premier Health is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). The program is located at 1 Wyoming St., Dayton, OH 45454.
After completing her dietetic internship at the hospital, Meg began her career as a consultant. During her time at the hospital, she served as the nutritionist for pediatric patients, from newborns to the elderly. Meg’s goal is to help people achieve optimal health and well-being by implementing a whole-foods-first approach to nutrition and lifestyle.
Staci Abbott is a graduate of the Miami Valley Hospital Dietetic Internship
Staci Abbott is a Registered Dietitian from Cincinnati, Ohio. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Miami University in 2013 and completed her dietetic internship through the University of Northern Colorado. She currently works in clinical nutrition and treats patients with various diet-related problems, including cardiovascular disease, renal failure, and diabetes. Outside of the office, she enjoys going on hikes, trying new foods, and spending time with her husband and family.
Abby Bolender is a graduate of the Miami Valley Hospital Dietetic Internship
“Abby was an exceptional intern, and we were proud to support her in her career goals.” says Michelle McLaughlin, program director at the Miami Valley Hospital. The program has a history of helping aspiring dietitians become licensed by offering nutritional counseling to hospital patients. Abby is a graduate of the program and plans to work for the same hospital for many years to come.
Connie Zimmerman is a graduate of the Miami Valley Hospital Dietetic Internship
After graduating from the Miami Valley Hospital Dietetic Intership, Connie Zimmerman went on to work at the renowned Michigan State University. She credited the internship with boosting her career. Mary Daly, her roommate at Maryland College for Women, was instrumental in promoting Zimmerman’s interest in nutrition and dietitians. As her assistant, she provided dietary counseling to medical students.
